Financial Operations Specialist (Card Services & Accounting)

St. Petersburg / Clearwater Area, FL

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to support card services and accounting operations within a credit union environment. This role plays an important part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting card-related transactions, and helping ensure smooth day-to-day member service operations. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and committed to delivering high-quality work in a member-focused setting.

Responsibilities

  • Process and reconcile card-related transactions, settlements, and general ledger entries.
  • Monitor card activity for accuracy, exceptions, and discrepancies, and research issues as needed.
  • Support accounting functions including balancing, journal entries, month-end close activities, and reporting.
  • Assist with the administration of debit, credit, and related card services.
  • Respond to internal inquiries and coordinate with vendors, processors, and team members to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and accuracy within card services and accounting workflows.
  • Support audits, examinations, and reporting requests by preparing documentation and account analysis.

Qualifications

  • Experience in accounting, card operations, financial services, or a related administrative function.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with financial data.
  • Working knowledge of reconciliation practices, general ledger processes, and transaction balancing.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Comfort working with financial systems, spreadsheets, and standard office software.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in a credit union or other financial institution.
  • Familiarity with card processing platforms and settlement procedures.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and internal control practices.
  • Experience supporting month-end or year-end accounting cycles.
